Just recently I received a chain email from my mother of all people. This email was talking about the new forever stamp that celebrated a muslim holiday, and how we as Americans should boycott this stamp. I was completely thrown by receiving this email because as a child I was taught by my parents to accept different people with open arms. I think people have a misconception about those with different beliefs or different ideas, especially when talking about Muslim believers. After receiving this email, I forwarded it to everyone that had already received this email explaining that America came to be because of religious discrimination, and that Muslim believers have a right to be celebrated as a group as well as Christians, Catholics, Athiests, Agnostics, Buddhists, Hindus, etc., and that teaching ignorant ideas breeds hate and creates wars. This is caused by lack of understanding other groups who are not necessarily so different from anyone else. Radical thinkers who want to harm other groups for being different are those whom are wrong, and there are radical thinkers in every group dynamic. Why should we automatically assume that everyone is the same, even though logically we know everyone is different?
